Get answers to common questions about Myofascial Release (MFR) - 75 min.
Your therapist begins with a movement and postural assessment, then applies focused sustained pressure to restricted fascial areas. Sessions are slow and gentle; you may feel aching or releasing sensations. Expect improved mobility afterward and guidance on hydration and self-care for lasting benefits.
MFR is typically slow and tolerable; some areas may produce deep pressure or aching as adhesions release. Therapists work within your comfort and adjust intensity. Mild soreness can occur afterward, but it usually subsides within 24–72 hours and signals tissue remodeling.
Frequency varies: acute issues may improve after one or two sessions, while chronic conditions often need a series of weekly or biweekly treatments over several weeks. Your therapist will create a personalized plan based on response, mobility gains, and pain reduction.
Light activity and gentle stretching are encouraged, but avoid intense exercise, heavy lifting, or prolonged sitting for 24–48 hours. Hydrate well and rest if you feel soreness. Follow any specific recommendations your therapist gives for optimal recovery.
Certain conditions—acute infection, open wounds, recent fractures, blood clots, or specific vascular disorders—may contraindicate MFR. Inform your therapist about medical history, medications, pregnancy, or recent surgeries. We’ll adapt treatment or refer you to appropriate care when needed.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing and arrive hydrated. Share your medical history and specific pain areas during intake. Avoid heavy meals immediately before the session. Plan quiet rest afterward if possible to allow your body to integrate the work.
